International Management Program (IMP)

It is a six-month, three-phase, three-option certification program
at the MBA level of education designed to qualify young managers
and potentials for assignments in international aspects of scheduled
or potential next job or assignment, plus more generally to enhance
their career prospects and value to their employer or potential
employers.
Structure of the Program
The program is structured in three phases:
Phase 1
Phase 1 is seven weeks of preparation in Munich covering
international business, business communication in English
and intercultural management.
Phase 2
Phase 2 is MBA level course work in the USA, in Singapore/Asia
or in Brisbane/ Australia.
Phase 3
During Phase 3 the participants conduct a project in a
company located in Asia or North America, or elsewhere with
permission for a period of eight to twelve weeks.
At the conclusion of the project
they write a report to the company and another more academic one to be assessed
for certification.
Options
There are now three options in the IMP. The longest running
one is the IMP USA, standard option, currently offered in
cooperation with The University of St. Thomas (Houston)
or the Houston Baptist University in Houston, Tx. The
IMP ASIA was introduced in 1997 in cooperation
with The National University of Singapore
and the newest option, which started in 2001, is the IMP
Australia in cooperation with the Brisbane Graduate School
of Business.
Meeting the Challenge
The International Management Program is designed for graduates
and young managers who wish to prepare themselves to meet
the challenges of global business early in their career.
It is also designed for companies to prepare their young
managers and potentials to face the challenges. Whether engineers,
lawyers, linguists, physicists, managers or computer specialists
- the participants, who come from a wide range of different
backgrounds and disciplines, know that their ability to operate
across national boundaries will be a key factor in their
future business success.
The IMP Program will help you to:
- improve your business awareness;
- enhance your interntional management knowledge and skills;
- develop your intercultural management competency and
- boost your English communication skills.
International Management Certificate
On successful completion of all phases, IMP participants
will receive the International Management Certificate. This
certificate is awarded by gfw – Gesellschaft zur Förderung der
Weiterbildung an der Universität der Bundeswehr München e.V.,
Munich. It will document academic and professional achievements
attained by the program participants. They will also receive
a certificate from the host university documenting the studies
made in Asia or America.
